Meet Our Staff

Ravi Akella, M.D., is a board-certified in Internal Medicine and has been with Orlando Internal Medicine since 2001. Dr. Akella completed his residency in training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in New York. In addition, he has two years of training in immunology and molecular oncology at the New York University Lagone Medical Center. Dr. Akella has full active staff privileges at Florida Hospital, Health Central, and Orlando Health. His main areas of interest are diabetes, weight management, and preventative medicine. He is an active member of the American College of Physicians and American Society of Bariatric Physicians.

Raghu Ganjam M.D. is a board-certified Internist. He has been with Orlando Internal Medicine since 2003. In 1997 he completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ. Dr. Ganjam admits patients to Florida Hospital, Select Specialty Hospital-Orlando, and has privileges at Health Central and Orlando Regional Medical Center. He provides comprehensive medical services, with special interests in preventative medicine, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Dr. Ganjam serves in leadership roles on the medical executive committee at Select Specialty Hospital-Orlando. He also practices aesthetic medicine as a part of Laser Aesthetics & Wellness at Orlando Internal Medicine, offering laser hair removal and laser skin rejuvenation.

Krina Shah, M.D. is board-certified in internal medicine. She completed her medical training in India, where she received the highest academic honors, and she completed her residency in Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, N.J. Dr. Shah has been in private practice since 2001. She joined Orlando Internal Medicine in 2008 and provides personalized care, with a special focus on preventative care, diabetes, and hypertension. With the recent introduction of a Cutera laser to the practice, she takes pride in offering skin care to men and women.

Rachelle Mercado, A.R.N.P.-C, C.C.R.N., M.S.N., is board-certified by the Academy of Nurse Practitioners and licensed by the State of Florida as a family nurse practitioner. She also holds a critical-care registered nurse certification by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. In 1998, Mercado obtained her bachelor’s in Nursing from the University of Memphis. She worked as a critical-care nurse for Orlando Health for 10 years before pursuing a master’s in nursing at the University of Central Florida. Mercado, who is part of the staff at Orlando Internal Medicine, is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She started with Orlando Internal Medicine in March of 2008 and works at Florida Hospital, Select specialty and with the physicians at OIM.

Rachel Leone, MSN, ARNP-BC is a board certified Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is licensed in the state of Florida as a RN and Nurse Practitioner. She was awarded her MSN as an Acute Care (Cardiopulmonary Specialty) Nurse Practitioner from University of Pittsburg in 2001 and received her BSN from Pennsylvania State University in 1995. She worked as a hospital RN for 6 years before obtaining her Masters. She started with Orlando Internal Medicine in February 2008 and works at Florida Hospital, Select Specialty with the physicians from OIM.

    Kristin Woolard ARNP-C, MSN

 Kristin Woolard ARNP-C, MSN is a board certified Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is licensed in the state of Florida. Kristin received her Bachelor’s in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2004. She worked as a critical-care nurse in the cardiac catheterization lab for Florida Hospital for 5 years before obtaining her master’s in nursing at the University of Central Florida. She has been with OIM since December 2008 and works at Florida Hospital and Select Specialty with the physicians from OIM.  

                            

Crystal Schmidt, M.S.N, A.R.N.P, FNP-BC is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and licensed by the state of Florida as a Family Nurse Practitioner. In 2004, Schmidt obtained her bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Central Florida. She worked as a cardiovascular critical care nurse at Florida Hospital for 6 years while pursuing a master’s degree in nursing at the University of Central Florida. Crystal has been with OIM for one year and works at Florida Hospital, Select Specialty and sees patients at OIM.
